January Social Media Guide

From reviews to recommendations, from square profile pictures to circular, Facebook went through a lot of changes in 2018. Although some were minor and simply for visual purposes, most were more important and can be helpful to you and your business. In 2019 it isn't enough to just have a Facebook page. Much like the new Instant Pot you got for Christmas, you have to know how to use it if you want it to be useful to you.

In this month's Social Media Guide we'll discuss the changes Facebook has made recently and how they can be used to better your business.

 

Try out Facebook's Different Features

If you made a resolution to try new things in 2019 then this one's for you. Facebook has expanded their jobs module in an effort to help more local businesses hire more people.

The Facebook Jobs tool is a great way to reach qualified people across a platform where they already spend their time. It is a free tool that allows you to post opportunities on your business page. It also allows you to easily review applicants through Messenger. You can even choose to boost the post to reach an even larger audience. 

 

 

At the top of your company's page, above "write a post", select "job". Upload an appropriate photo, enter the job title, and describe the position you are looking to fill. Make sure to check over all of the information making sure it is accurate and then publish.

Try New Ad Campaigns

There is more to Facebook Advertising than just Page Likes campaigns. Are you running an oil change special or looking to hire someone? You should think about running a boost campaign! Boosts are regular posts that are promoted to a larger audience.

Not only are boosted posts a great way to make sure your audience sees your content, but they're also a great way to get in front of people who don't follow you. People who might be interested in applying to the job you're boosting or coming into the shop for the oil change you're running a special on. 

 

 

Warehouse Tire and Service Center boosted a post that was a contest giving away a free pol change. This post reached 813 people and had 110 engagements. If you're running a contest it's a great idea to boost the post so that more than just your followers will see it.

 

Facebook Stories

Facebook Stories are the newest way to interact with your followers and a great way to make it feel more personal. These stories are a collection of photos or videos that appear at the top of users' timelines for 24 hours before disappearing. As long as you have a smartphone, you can create a Facebook story.

The best thing about Stories? They appear at the top of users' timelines on the Facebook app. It's the first thing they'll see when they open the app which means it's more likely to catch their attention.

Open the Facebook app and click the "Create Story" button. You can record a video by holding down the round button, create a slideshow of pictures by touching th the button once, or uploading photos from your camera roll. You could share some fun facts about the employees or snippets of custom work or repairs. This is a great tool to use to be creative and have fun with your content.
