The Power of Social Listening
The value of social media comes from connecting with your customer base. Too many businesses simply use Facebook or Twitter as a way to promote their brand, but social media can also be a valuable barometer of what your customers want and how they feel--which means you can learn how to better serve your community and increase your bottom line as well.
Engaging with your target audience and identifying their concerns is known as “social listening.” According to DashBurst, only 24% of businesses engage in social listening. Even for brands that prioritize social listening, the process can always be enhanced. So how do you do it?
Monitor phrases and hashtags relative to your business. In many instances, customers talking about your business will not tag your profile or make the effort to connect with you. Keeping metaphorical eyes and ears open will help you monitor how your services are resonating with customers. This allows you to make adjustments as necessary, or reach out to those who feel less than satisfied. You can even monitor competition profiles. See what their customers are saying, too. You don’t have to engage directly, but identify how you can better serve the market’s needs and you’ll be sure to attract new customers.
