Enhancing Your Social Media

The Power of Social Listening

The value of social media comes from connecting with your customer base. Too many businesses simply use Facebook or Twitter as a way to promote their brand, but social media can also be a valuable barometer of what your customers want and how they feel--which means you can learn how to better serve your community and increase your bottom line as well.

Engaging with your target audience and identifying their concerns is known as “social listening.” According to DashBurst, only 24% of businesses engage in social listening. Even for brands that prioritize social listening, the process can always be enhanced. So how do you do it?

Monitor phrases and hashtags relative to your business. In many instances, customers talking about your business will not tag your profile or make the effort to connect with you. Keeping metaphorical eyes and ears open will help you monitor how your services are resonating with customers. This allows you to make adjustments as necessary, or reach out to those who feel less than satisfied. You can even monitor competition profiles. See what their customers are saying, too. You don’t have to engage directly, but identify how you can better serve the market’s needs and you’ll be sure to attract new customers.

Creating a strategy about how to engage with the interactions you find on social media is key as well. Once you’ve analyzed your marketplace and you know how you want to enhance your profiles and social media activities, Net Driven can help you engage with your audience.

Social Media Q&A: How can I improve the appearance of my business on social media?

Whether you’re working with a social media team or posting on your own, make sure your profiles look professional.

The first thing that many customers and potential customers notice are the graphics on your page. Your logo and imagery should not only be eye-catching, but match your website and your presence on other social media channels, too. This allows customers to easily recognize your brand.

Also, be sure to fill out all the necessary information about your business so customers know how to find you, contact you, and learn more about the products and services you offer.

It’s also important to make sure that your social media accounts aren’t just placeholders. Regular posting that offers value to customers will go a long way toward earning customers’ trust. Adding pictures or videos to your posts leads to having much more interaction. According to BuzzSumo.com, Facebook posts with images see 2.3 times the engagement than posts without imagery. And Buffer states that tweets with images receive 150% more retweets.

Don’t forget, your social media profiles are a representation of your business. Make sure your online presence matches the professional courtesy you extend to your customers in-person.

Social Media Success Story: Jim's Discount Tire & Brake

Many of our dealers want to know how social media can help to grow their business. After all, they say, likes are one thing and dollars are another. But social media can help you attract new customers without a large investment. At Net Driven, we use our dealers’ existing advertising budgets to expose their businesses to potential customers. And we do all that with no extra charge.

Let’s take a look at how our social media team helped Jim’s Discount Tire & Brake from North Kansas City, MO reach more potential customers. Telling existing customers about a service special requires little more than posting the offer on social media, but to ensure that potential customers--who are not yet following your business--see your post, another tactic is needed.

Facebook calls this feature a “boost” and it converts a post on your timeline into an advertisement. These boosted posts reach many more people than a standard post would. It’s the difference between a few dozen of your existing customers seeing a post (who will still see the post once it’s boosted) and having potentially thousands of new eyes seeing what your business has to offer.

Using advertising dollars already built into our Social Media Master Tech program, Jim’s Discount Tire & Brake was able to promote their business to a much wider audience. With the post garnering additional likes, the organic reach for the post increases too.

Boosted posts are targeted to the location around your business so we help you build your customer base close to home. Does your business have multiple locations? Our social media team can make sure that the areas you service are covered!

What better way to attract new customers than by reaching them where they’re spending their time--on social media! Talk to your Net Driven customer relationship manager about how Social Media Master Tech can transform your business presence on Facebook and Twitter today.
