May Social Media Guide

As we've discussed before, the main purpose of your Facebook page is to promote your business. From sharing new promotions and rebates to driving people to your tire catalog, it's all done with the purpose of driving in business to your shop. However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to break the mold and have fun on social media.

Posting something topical or trending that you can use to promote your business is one of the best ways to get people's attention.

Back in March when the internet was exploding with all different kinds of brackets because of the NCAA Tournament, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity. We created a bracket for Bauer Built Tire & Service to figure out which vehicle their audience thought would win in a race between different TV and movie cars.

After people had a few days to comment and vote we could post the next round with the updated bracket. This went on for five rounds and eventually declared K.I.T.T. the winner. Because this post encouraged people to comment in a fun and organic way, it ended up being one of Bauer's most successful posts.

Taking outside content and making them relevant to your business can be a bit of a challenge. Lift kits and brake repairs aren't typically the top trending topics so it can take a bit of creativity. However, that didn't stop Southern Tire Mart from posting content relevant to a particular TV show one Sunday evening.

If you've been on the internet at all over the past few weeks, you've probably noticed that the Game of Thrones obsession has completely taken over. Between the countless memes and recap articles, the internet get enough Game of Thrones content.

We're not here to spoil Game of Thrones for you if you haven't seen the episode, but just know that this post was very well done. It used an image and line from the episode and applied it to their business. It also ended with a call to action and link to their site making it more than just another meme. Great job, Southern Tire Mart!

Always remember that it's okay to have fun on social media as long as it is appropriate for your business page! The content will stand out on your audience's feeds and help show off your personality.
